چکیده

Morinda (Rubiaceae) is considerably recognized for its multiple uses viz. food, medicine, dyes, firewood, tools, oil, bio-sorbent etc. The molecular characterization of such an important plant would be very useful multifarious enhanced utilization. In the present study, 31 genotypes belonging to two different species citrifolia L. and tomentosa B. Heyne exRoth collected from regions India were investigated using inter simple sequence repeat (ISSR) markers. Fifteen ISSR primers generated 176 bands with average 11.7 per primer, which (90.34%) polymorphic. percentage polymorphic bands, mean Nei’s gene diversity Shannon’s information index in M. was [(69.89%, 30.68%); (0.21 ± 0.19, 0.12 0.20) (0.32 0.27 0.17 0.28)] respectively, revealing higher polymorphism genetic compared citrifolia. These rich can evaluated nutraceutical, nutritional other nonfood purposes identify trait specific markers based Structure, UPGMA cluster analysis placed into well-defined separate clusters. Further, distinct ecotypes within a particular could also inferred. Priority identified earmarked exploration collecting substantial number ex-situ conservation. In-situ conservation hotspots preserve their natural habitats vis-à-vis evolution increased adaptation newer respect changing environment emphasized.

Promoting Utilization of Saccharum spp. Genetic Resources through Genetic Diversity Analysis and Core Collection Construction

Sugarcane (Saccharum spp.) and other members of Saccharum spp. are attractive biofuel feedstocks. One of the two World Collections of Sugarcane and Related Grasses (WCSRG) is in Miami, FL. This WCSRG has 1002 accessions, presumably with valuable alleles for biomass, other important agronomic traits, and stress resistance. However, the WCSRG has not been fully exploited by breeders due to its la...

Genetic diversity study of Ethiopian hot pepper cultivars (Capsicum spp.) using Inter Simple Sequence Repeat (ISSR) marker

Hot pepper (Capsicum spp.) is an economically important spice widely cultivated and consumed in Ethiopia. In spite of its wide importance, there is no information available on the molecular genetic diversity of this crop. Cultivars characterization is an important link between the conservation and utilization of plant genetic resources in various breeding programs. Using five ISSR prim...

Genetic diversity of Arum L. based on plastid marker

TrnL-F region including intron trnL (UAA) and trnL (UAA) - trn (GAA) spacer in the large single-copy region of the chloroplast genome is widely used to infer phylogenetic relationships in plants. In this study, we obtained the trnL-F sequences from 8 samples of Arum L. in Iran. Phylogenetic analyses were conducted by the Bayesian inference, maximum parsimony, and maximum likelihood methods. The...
